Strong Libraries Build Strong Communities
Friends of Thurmont Regional Library, Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to helping our library and the community it serves.
We believe a library is much more than a building filled with books. It is a place where children discover the joy of reading, students explore new ideas, adults learn new skills, neighbors connect, and people of every age and background have access to information, opportunity, and one another.
Through fundraising, advocacy, volunteer service, and community partnerships, we provide resources and support that extend beyond what public funding alone can provide.
What We Do
Working closely with Thurmont Regional Library, the Friends help turn good ideas into opportunities for our community.
We provide supplemental funding.
Donations, book sales, and other fundraising efforts help support programs, materials, special projects, and emerging needs that might otherwise go unfunded.
We champion our library.
We help tell the library’s story and advocate for the important role it plays in the educational, cultural, and civic life of our community.
We connect people with opportunities to serve.
Our volunteers contribute their time, talents, ideas, and enthusiasm to fundraising, events, programs, and projects that benefit the Thurmont Regional Library and our community.
We help make more possible.
By working in partnership with library staff and the broader community, we can respond to new ideas and opportunities and help create experiences that bring people together to read, learn, discover, and connect.

Independent, but Working Together
Friends of Thurmont Regional Library, Inc. is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We work in close partnership with Thurmont Regional Library and Frederick County Public Libraries, while operating as a separate charitable organization.
That independence allows community members to support the Friends through donations, volunteering, and fundraising. We put that support to work for the benefit of Thurmont Regional Library and our community.
